My Handmade Magnets 001: Assorted Patterns - Full Set

I made 7 magnets from some old magnetic strips I ripped off from a used magnetic memo pad. I simply cut out some patterns I liked from a variety of sources (flyers, magazine pages, etc), and glued them onto the magnets.

This photo shows all the magnets I made. The one with the crown design was coated in clear nail varnish, while the one in the bottom left was coated with clear glittery nail polish. The others were all left uncoated. I might coat them with varnish later on to protect the paper.

This photo shows one of the magnets up close. I coated this particular one in clear nail varnish to make it waterproof.

This photo shows one of the magnets up close. I slathered this one in clear glitter nail polish so it’s now waterproof and sparkles.

This photo shows one of the magnets in use on my fridge door. Below it you can see a bare magnet - a recycled magnetic strip that hasn’t yet been decorated. Maybe someday I’ll get down to dressing up that one.

My Handmade Book 003: The New Black - Front

I made a half-A4-sized book consisting of a stack of pink pages. The cover was actually that of a fashion catalogue whose pages I’d removed to make envelopes out of. The book was bound by machine-sewing through the centre. I then used silver metallic tape on the front and back cover to block out the catalogue’s original text.

This photo shows the front cover and close-up of the stitching. The areas covered by the metallic tape were where text had been printed.

I made a half-A4-sized book consisting of a stack of pink pages. The cover was actually that of a fashion catalogue whose pages I’d removed to make envelopes out of. The book was bound by machine-sewing through the centre. I then used silver metallic tape on the front and back cover to block out the catalogue’s original text.

This photo shows the inside of the front cover, as well as the centre. The picture and text on the inside of the front cover were originally from the catalogue. I didn’t cover them up ‘cos I thought they were pretty artistic.

I made a half-A4-sized book consisting of a stack of pink pages. The cover was actually that of a fashion catalogue whose pages I’d removed to make envelopes out of. The book was bound by machine-sewing through the centre. I then used silver metallic tape on the front and back cover to block out the catalogue’s original text.

This photo shows the inside of the back cover. The picture you see is originally from the catalogue. There was some text on the bottom as well, which I blocked out by sewing a patch of recycled paper over.

I made a half-A4-sized book consisting of a stack of pink pages. The cover was actually that of a fashion catalogue whose pages I’d removed to make envelopes out of. The book was bound by machine-sewing through the centre. I then used silver metallic tape on the front and back cover to block out the catalogue’s original text.

This photo shows the back cover. You can see the silver tape used to obscure the catalogue’s original text. I also pasted a large rectangular sticker from another stationery product to cover the underside of the stitching I did on the inside of the back cover (see previous photo).

My Handmade Book 002: Cardboard Book - Front & Close-up

I made a half-A4-sized book consisting of a stack of blank pages. The cover was a soft cardboard piece salvaged from some product packaging, and the pages were tracing paper, graph paper, and photocopy paper of various colours (blue, pink and white). All were bound together by machine-sewing through the centre of the book.

This photo shows the cover, which was deliberately left bare (i.e. undecorated), and the stitching.

They’re very handy for putting stickers, small notepapers, stamps and other small stationery.

My Sent Mail 016: Randomosity - Front

Snailmail I sent to Italy. I was kind of random with this one - any decorative element of “correct” size to fit the space I wanted to fill on the envelope was used.

The “All Day, Every Day” caption was cut out from a Long John Silver’s advertisement.
